A month. Almost a total month has gone by. My poor lonely blog. Where HAS the time gone? A few flashes as to what has transpired in the almost month since the last post:
A turkey has been cooked. I am a converted briner. I love my meat thermometer. The dinner was, in a word and if I do say so myself...EPIC. I will post a recipe gameplan and summary at a later date.
Still thinking about the chili spiced pecans on the sweet potatoes.
My daughter now likes to act out The Barnyard Dance at night rather than just read it. This is comical. You should see her Bow to the Horse and Strut Like A Duck.
Grandparents/parents have visited. And sadly, have left. I hate saying goodbye.
A wonderful dinner was shared at James. If you live in Brooklyn, it's a must-eat.
A father-in-law had a birthday, and we had a turkey curry lunch to celebrate. With all the trimmings.
Friends came in from out of town to have an intro brunch with a new boyfriend. We liked him.
A one day trip to Orlando was made. Other trips to CA were taken. More are scheduled in the next few weeks.
We made our first attempt at the Central Park Carousel. Avery said "NO!" on no uncertain terms. We are sensitive parents. We did not push.
A few friends were seen but not enough. Not nearly enough.
We used the word "No!" a lot with our daughter. In typical almost 2 year old fashion, she used it a lot more right back at us.
Gift lists and budgets have been established for Christmas. I just love Christmas.
I am up 2 to 1 in the backgammon tourny with my husband - WOOHOO! This is worthy of cyber-gloating...he almost always beats me. I am on a roll...
Crackers were burned. Three batches. The fourth batch worked...sort of. Stay tuned - it's on the to-be-posted Thanksgiving gameplan.
We had our first fire of the season in our house. Not an OH MY GOD IT'S A FIRE! fire. Rather, a nice fire in a fireplace on a cold night with hot chocolate fire.
Banana bread was made. Awfully good. So good my nanny ate it all. We offer pretty good job perks around here. Fresh banana bread.
There was a panel on entrepreneurship and venture capitalists. I was on it. Think it went well. There will be a panel tomorrow on venture investing in the education industry. I am on that one too. Let's hope it goes well.
Too many marshmallows were eaten. And we re-discovered our affection for lambrusco (GREAT gift to take to someone's house, btw. Almost nobody thinks of it).
A company was funded. Another had a record month. Work has been busy. I try to put the blackberry down from 6 to 7:30 (bath time/milk/story time/barnyard dance time).
A dinner was had a Blue Hill at Stone Barns (discussed in much anticipated fashion in an earlier post). In a phrase, TOTAL bummer. Details to come later. Let's just say, very expensive misses among only a couple of hits in the 8 course tasting menu. Boo.
I did not take enough pictures of our first Thanksgiving. I suppose some memories just have to live on in our own minds...and in the snippets we can get onto a blog.
Like a film in fast forward. Very nicely done!
You'll have to tell me about Blue Hill at Stone Barns since I was planning a surprise dinner there for an important friend in January.
Otherwise, it's reassuring to know that even though we don't have time see each other, our lives overlap in ways substantial and much less so.
